Abstract
Alveolar bone defects are frequently seen in patients with infrabony pockets requiring periodontal therapy.
The treatment of these alveolar bone defects resulting from periodontal breakdown has been the subject of considerable clinical and laboratory investigations.
These cases of autogenous bone transplantation in, the treatment of infrabony pockets are presented.
Case I : A twenty six years old female
There was $mm. pocket at the distal surface of the maxillary left 1st premolar and 7mm. 1, y pocket at the mesial surface of the maxillary left 2nd premolar.
At the time of therapy, the area exposed, revealed a deep and wide osseous defect.
The bone for transplantation was obtained with burs and chisels while carrying out osteoplasty on a heavy buccal shelf of the poterior molar region.
The bone chips without compact bone were employed to fill the defect. 6 months postoperatively, the roentgenogram showed the evidence of regeneration in the defect and the crevicular depth f was less than 2mm.
Case II : A twenty five year old male.
There was $mm. pocket at the distal surface of the maxillary right 1st-molar and 6mm. pocket at the mesial surface of the maxillary right 2nd molar.
When the area was exposed, a deep angular defect was observed. The bone chips were obtain from the posterior molar region for transplantation. 6 months postoperatively, probing reveale, 3mm. crevicular depth while the roentgenogrAm showed marked osseous regeneration in the defect
